The Sauber Formula 1 team is diligently addressing pit stop issues after setbacks in the first races of the season, aiming for swift resolution and enhanced reliability. Alessandro Alunni Bravi, a team representative, emphasized the ongoing investigation and commitment to rectifying the recurring problem to ensure a competitive edge in upcoming races. Racing director Xevi Pujolar echoed the sentiment, acknowledging the need for further adjustments to bolster the team’s robustness before the next race in Australia.

Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu both experienced delays due to cross-threading issues at pit stops, resulting in significant time losses during the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Saudi Arabian race, respectively. The team is working on addressing the problem and revising parts to prevent future occurrences.

“We know that we have a problem, we have an issue that has been the same in Bahrain on Valtteri’s car, and this time on Zhou’s car. So we have investigated, and we are working to fix this problem as soon as possible,” stated Alunni Bravi, emphasizing the urgency of resolving the issue.

In an attempt to produce quicker stops, the team had implemented changes to equipment and design, which are now under review. Alunni Bravi highlighted the critical nature of the issue, emphasizing the team’s potential to compete for points being jeopardized due to these recurring problems.

Racing director Xevi Pujolar underscored the importance of addressing the pit stop issue before the next race, emphasizing the need to be more robust and avoid similar setbacks in future races. “We are causing a cross thread. And it takes time, because we have to change the wheel nut,” added Pujolar, outlining the specific challenges the team is striving to overcome.
